Аэропорт Павлодара undergoing modernization will be financed using returned assets as per the order of the President of Kazakhstan. This initiative aligns with the state’s objective of enhancing the transport and logistics potential in the region. The project encompasses significant upgrades, including the reconstruction of the runway, taxiway, and apron, with a total allocation of 9.3 billion tenge sourced from the Special State Fund.
The government emphasizes that these renovations will enable the airport to accommodate modern aircraft without weight restrictions, thereby improving the transit potential of the region given its geographical location. This infrastructure enhancement is expected to lead to increased passenger traffic, improved transport accessibility, and enhanced business activities in the area.
A key aim of the project is to ensure that the airport’s specifications meet the international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Planned works will include widening the runway from 45 to 60 meters, updating the taxiway and apron surface, modernizing the power supply system, and installing new lighting and surveillance systems around the airport.
Due to the necessary repair works and the need to ensure flight safety, airport operations have been temporarily suspended since April of last year. Before this pause, the airport catered to regular flights to Astana and Almaty. Additionally, President Kazakhstan recently proposed amendments to the law regarding the return of illegally acquired assets, which underpins the financing of the airport’s reconstruction.
